James "Jim" Evans passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Regency Care Center in Monroe. Jim was born July 17, 1936 in Lawson, MO to James R. and Edna Pauline Evans. The family relocated to Richland, WA in 1942. Jim graduated from Columbia High School in Richland. He also attended Columbia Basin Jr. College in Pasco. Jim joined the Army and was sent to Korea where he served as an MP. Upon returning to Richland he served in the active Army reserves. James "Jim" Evans passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Regency Care Center in Monroe. Jim was born July 17, 1936 in Lawson, MO to James R. and Edna Pauline Evans. The family relocated to Richland, WA in 1942. Jim graduated from Columbia High School in Richland. He also attended Columbia Basin Jr. College in Pasco. Jim joined the Army and was sent to Korea where he served as an MP. Upon returning to Richland he served in the active Army reserves. Jim met Barbara, his wife of 56 years, when they both worked in Richland. They had 2 children: daughter Jennifer McGibbon (Kevin), son Greg Evans; 3 grandchildren: Darien, Connor, and Hayden. Jim is also survived by his 3 sisters, Carol, Helen, and Eileen and his brother John. His good friend Cal (Tyke) Hanson was by Jim's side for such a long time. Jim was preceded in death by his sister Evelyn. Jim enjoyed getting his grandson Hayden off to school and back by meeting the bus each day. Jim wished he could spend more time with all his family. While living in Shoreline, Jim was active with Richmond Little League baseball and football. He was an active member of Cascade 2327 FOE in Monroe. A memorial remembrance will be held on January 14, 2017 from 12:00-2:00 pm at the Senior Center in Monroe, 276 Sky River Pkwy.
